“Destroy your industry before the competition does”

I was intrigued and confused by the last line in Seth Godin’s blog post

The “destroy your industry before the competition does” seems very appropriate for the photography business today, especially the stock photography segment.  I’d love to read what others might think about this and how it may relate to the photography business.

Should we really destroy our business and pillage it for whatever strategic or financial gains we think we can get before someone else does it?  If this is true how do we get out of this destructive cycle?
