Canadian Gas and Oil Extraction

While looking to get more information on the Canadian tar sands and environmental risks associated with those I came across the B.C. Tap Water Alliance. It seems the Canadian government at the very least needs to highly regulate and study what is going on in Northern B.C. before things get out of hand and we have a environmental catastrophe. It could be that we already have one in the making.

I found a 58 page pdf on the hydraulic fracturing practices taking place in Northeastern British Columbia and became alarmed at what is going on up there. There is seemingly little caution being taken for the long term and short term risks from the industrialization of the once pristine and undeveloped wilderness area. There could be many downside consequences for people, water, wildlife, and the ecosystem of the area and down stream. It’s worth a skim at least, to know what is going on. I hope the Canadian people are watching this and holding these companies and their governmental agencies accountable.

I found this film to be very inspirational and motivational.  I also found it alarming that Canadians would allow such a risky pipeline project to go through.
